Spending Weekends Without Spending Money

Some recent developments in my life have made me frugal and extremely conservative on my future income streams. I mean, one has absolutely no surety on the frequency of green paper considering the volatile nature of the stock market, the unpredictable inflation, the unprecedented rise in fuel prices and not to mention the numerous political uprisings in various parts of the world, which if you are unlucky(which is highly likely) might be a given reason at appraisals for low hike.
Since this a trade off, the only way I can improve my savings, keeping my income constant, is by reducing consumption. This is no theory of relativity as some of my intelligent friends will agree. Considering you slog 5 days a week to justify the income and are in no position to spend money on weekdays except for the transport cost, the entire focus falls on the much awaited weekends. The sweet effervescent two days in the entire week which flies off in ziffy and yet leave a big impression on the pockets! Considering all the above aspects, I decided to make a chart for every alternate weekends to follow, thus keeping a tap on my pennies. Disclaimer: This chart is highly personalized and has no resemblance to anyone’s daily behavior and nor guarantees that it’s being followed diligently. This is how it goes:
The idle way to start a weekend is to wake up at noon. This ensures that you do not have much time left for the rest of the day. Ponder for half an hour whether to have breakfast or straightway go for lunch. Oil your hair and keep it for atleast 2 hours before shampooing it off. I just love this funda, it blocks my 2 hours of the day. By the time all of the above is achieved its almost evening. This is the most tempting part of the day when you either end up going to malls or are suddenly in a mood to dine out. Mind it, locality eateries never qualify for the weekend dinners; it always has to be a fine dining place or a pub which is atleast 5 kms from your home!! In order to juggle out of this is very tricky and then it hit me, ‘a EUREKA moment’, I have decided to cook for myself in the weekends. And once it is decided, be rest assured you will be busy until you are tired enough to sleep while standing. And you may watch a nice movie too, thanks to the channel ‘Movies Now’ which is airing some quite decent movies almost everyday. This is how the perfect day ends.
Thanks to the above routine, especially the last part, I have polished my culinary skills which is getting better each day. Touch wood! It does feel boring and lethargic sometimes, but who cares make the best of it till you can and enjoy saving some bucks!
